Introduction

General introduction

Harmoni-CA developed a folder with loose-leaf leaflets to disseminate research results of European funded research. This webpage provides the digital versions of the flyers. It also provides instructions to create new flyers. It is hoped that in time a new folder with more and updated leaflets will be developed.

Why was this folder developed?

Throughout Europe research and development is and has been carried out to support the implementation of Europe's Water Framework Directive. The European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Development (EC-RTD) has contributed to this research by co-funding many projects relating to catchment modelling. The purpose of the folder and leaflet website is to bring in a more systematic way results from individual projects together and increase their visibility amongst practitioners, researchers and other target groups. The leaflets provide information on many projects results. It is hoped that this information will improve the uptake of research results both in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and in current and future research.

What is in this leaflet website?

his website contains leaflets on several results of many European funded research projects relevant to 'catchment modelling'. In particular, it contains two series of leaflets (1) The green series: Documents such as synthesis reports and guidelines; (2) The blue series: Software such as models and toolboxes.
Though the site already contains more than forty leaflets, many more results relevant to integrated water management have been developed over the last years. These results may be included in the future.

How can I find what interests me?

The table of contents of the leaflets is presented in the two tabs called "Green series" and "Blue series". This table of contents can directly guide you to a relevant leaflet. Each leaflet contains on the left-hand side of the front page a column that in short explains how different target groups can benefit from the results. The different target groups are in red typeface. Hence, if you focus on this section of the leaflet you can immediately determine if further reading is useful.

How can I add a product-leaflet?

For the moment, new leaflets can be produced based on instructions provided on www.harmoni-ca.info/flyers. The leaflets can also be uploaded to the site, where they will be available to the public. If and when a new hard-copy version of the leaflets will be produced is however not yet clear. This will depend on the success of the current folder and the demands for additions.

Who funded the research?

All products in this folder are the result of research co-funded by the Directorate-General for Research of the European Commission. Most of the research was carried out within the 5th EC-RTD Framework Programme in the context of the "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development" thematic programme and under the umbrella of the Catchment Modelling (CatchMod) cluster of projects. Several results from FP6 environmental programmes and other related EC RTD programmes are also included. The folder and leaflets are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not represent the opinion of the European Commission, nor is the European Commission responsible for any use that might be made of the information appearing herein.

Who developed the folder and leaflets?

The initiative of the folder and leaflets was taken by the concerted action Harmoni-CA, Harmonized Modelling Tools for Integrated Basin Management. In close collaboration with the folder's editor, representatives of the various research projects developed the content of the leaflets.

We are confident that this folder can guide you through the results of the many project results obtained in the last years and as such you can find those that are useful for your work.
